Small plane crashed with victims into a North Carolina home


Aerial video taken by WTVD revealed the plane demolished half the home, pieces of which were spread across a yard. The pilot and an occupant of the home died at the scene. A woman of the residence was hospitalized at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with serious injuries. The home is in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 301, less than 5 miles southwest of the Fayetteville Regional Airport. Neighbors told they heard the plane sputtering before it crashed into the home. They heard an explosion. The identities of the people involved in the crash have not been released. The Highway Patrol said it is unclear if the aircraft was taking off or landing at the Fayetteville airport.


The cause of the crash is under investigation.The State Highway Patrol was securing the crash site until the arrival of investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration. It was known the pilot remained “in contact with air traffic controllers at Fayetteville Regional Airport moments before” the plane crashed.
