It occurred at Ramoneros Liquor & Bar (formerly J&J Liquor & Bar and the Stokes bar). The shooting reportedly happened just after midnight on the 300 block of Brunswick Avenue in Trenton. The intersection is less than a mile from the Trenton Police Department’s headquarters. “I just heard the loud gunshots. It was a couple of them. I came downstairs and by the time I got down, it was just crazy everywhere,” said Norman Hutto, who lives nearby. Police believes the shots were fired from a “dark-colored SUV.” Ambulance crews had taken five men and five women to local hospitals.
Two of the men struck had emergency surgery. Police expect all to survive. At least 50 evidence markers were outside the bar. An investigation was ongoing. City Councilman Jerell Blakeley said on Facebook: “This kind of carnage shouldn’t be normal but is becoming a common occurrence. Every time the weather breaks, the madness descends in this city. I am calling for bringing in the troopers and National Guard to the City.” The shooting comes nearly a year after the mass shooting at the Art All Night Festival that left 17 people injured and one of the suspects dead.
