Officers attacked, one died, in Auburn - Alabama

A gunman shot and killed a police officer and seriously wounded two others at the Arrowhead Trailer Park in Auburn, Alabama, late in the Sunday night.

The injured are expected to recover. The officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call. When they arrived on the scene they were fired upon by the suspect. The attacker Grady Wayne Wilkes, 29 years old, described as being around 6-foot 4-inche,s was clad in camouflage body armor and a helmet. Police is searching for the armed man. It remains unclear how many weapons he has with him, or which kind. Paul Register, chief of the Auburn Police Department said that authorities would do "whatever it takes" to bring him into custody.

The state of Alabama issued an emergency blue alert asking the public to help locate Wilkes. He "is believed to be a serious risk to the public." Helicopters are patrolling in the massive manhunt. According to his social media accounts, Wilkes is or was in the US Army. A tweet posted on one of Auburn University’s accounts warned students to stay away from the Arrowhead Mobile Home Park, five miles away from its campus.
