Police arrived quickly at the scene and opened an investigation. It is still uncertain which one of the two women was driving the car. Police explained that the SUV lost control and skidded across the road ending up on a lane with traffic from the other side. The car crashed into a 2006 Ford Explorer by slamming head-first into its passenger side.
Although the ambulance arrived quickly to the scene of the accident the two women died just as they entered the Brookdale University Hospital.
The commissioner of Brooklyn’s Department of Correction expressed her grief and condolences: “I speak for everyone when I extend heartfelt condolences to our two officers’ families, friends and coworkers”. The exact cause of the accident is not yet known. Police couldn’t say if the two women were drunk or on drugs as the required analysis were not done yet.
