Strong tornadoes hit Texas and move east


Three people, a mother and her two children, died in Erath County, Texas, early on Wednesday, in flash flooding. They were in a car. Two other people are also dead in the Louisiana city of Ruston after a tree fell on a home. No other information on the victims has been released.There were more than 15,000 power outages in Louisiana and more than 2,700 in Texas. “Our prayers are with the people of Ruston today,” Gov. John Bel Edwards tweeted. Severe weather watches and warnings, including tornado watches and warnings and severe thunderstorm watches, are in effect.


This system was expected to bring severe storms to New Orleans; Jackson and Biloxi, Mississippi; Mobile and Montgomery, Alabama and Tallahassee, Florida. The whole storm system will move east Thursday night into Friday and bring heavy rain and strong storms for the East Coast.The heaviest rain and strongest storms will hit the Carolinas and the Mid-Atlantic, while the Northeast should see heavy rain and gusty winds. Many schools were closed.
