A storm, which had struck a Woodville, Florida, Friday morning, killed a girl when a tree crashed through her house where the 8-year-old and a 12-year-old boy were inside.
Both children were transported to the hospital with injuries and the girl was pronounced dead. The deceased child was Mariah Weinman. Mariah's mother, Sara Weinman said on Facebook that the tree 'crushed' her daughter. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family cover funeral costs, move into a new home and replace items inside their home. 'I'm destroyed. I can't even believe my baby is gone,' Courtney Weinman, a woman who identified herself as Mariah's aunt, wrote on Facebook on Friday.
Leon County Emergency Management has reported trees down on two other homes in the area where the child was killed. The strong storms that roared through Thursday night and into Friday morning also killed two Mississippi drivers and a woman in Alabama. It left more than 100,000 people without power across the region. Most of the nation's southeast region contended with thunderstorms and tornado threats Thursday and Friday.
