A Coast Guard lieutenant was arrested for planning mass attack

Federal agents found 15 firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Hasson has been working at the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C., since 2016. He is a self-described white nationalist. Hasson prepared to launch a widespread attack on prominent Democratic lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and several high-profile journalists from MSNBC and CNN. “I am dreaming of a way to kill every last person on earth,” Hasson wrote in a draft email dated June 2, 2017. He imagined even a biological attack on the public, followed by contamination of food supplies.

He had a to-do list for four years. Officials arrested Hasson on Friday. Hasson’s computer contains a list of possible targets , high-ranking current and former Democratic politicians, activists, political organizations and media personalities. He has been seeking answers in neo-fascist and neo-Nazi literature for decades. Hasson was “taking narcotics in order to increase his ability to conduct attacks.” Agents found documentation in his house indicating Hasson ordered “at least 4,200 Tramadol 100 mg pills” since 2016. Christopher Paul Hasson is due in court on Thursday in Maryland.
