Many people, including three police officers, were shot inside the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh,
Saturday. The shooting happened during weekly Shabbat services. The building was full of people. The gunman walked into the building and yelled, “All Jews Must die.” Eight people have been killed. The officer have non life threatening injuries. The suspect, a heavy-set white male with a beard, is in custody, police said. They have created a media staging area away from the scene and asked residents to remain home. After shooting, people were barricaded inside the synagogue.
Jeff Finklestein, the president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh said he believed 60 to 100 people were in the synagogue at the time of the incident."Watching the events unfolding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Tom Wolf tweeted about the active shooting, calling it a "serious situation." Two of Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams, the Steelers and Penguins, also Tweeted their thoughts and prayers to the victims.
