A favorite of "America's Got Talent" has been arrested for domestic violence

Michael Ketterer, 41, a favorite who finished in 5th place on this season's "America's Got Talent," has landed in some legal trouble.

He has been arrested for felony domestic violence Thursday afternoon by the LAPD in the 1700 block of North Highland Ave., which is near Hollywood Blvd., after he got into a fight with his wife. Cops were called when an argument occurred in their hotel room. When officers arrived, they saw she had a red mark on her body. The wife didn't want to press charges. Just the night before, Ketterer sang a song written for him by Garth Brooks during the "AGT" season finale.

"When he sang the Garth Brooks song, it was one of those magic moments where the song connected, he connected, his voice was better, you could feel it in the crowd," said judge Simon Cowell , who also is an "AGT" executive producer and music executive. Ketterer was released from arrest after posting $50k bail. Ketterer sustained the arrest was a big "misunderstanding." At the same time, law enforcement sources appreciated the case will be downgraded to a misdemeanor because his wife’s injury was a minor one. The singer is a pediatric nurse and father of six (including five adopted from foster care). Ketterer is due in court on Oct. 19. That's one day before the concert where country star Garth Brooks invited Ketterer to perform with him earlier this week.
