Shooting in Syracuse, five people wounded


Witnesses said they saw two or three possible shooters. It is reported at least 10 shots were fired. One witness reported between 10 and 15 shots were fired near the house. People had gathered at the house to mark the death of Richard Harris, who died in hospice care of pancreatic cancer. During the incident, about 50 people ran inside the home. The victims were taken at Upstate University Hospital. Police in the state responded. Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler said all of the victims were between the ages of 8 and 35. Several ambulances were seen leaving the scene with a police escort. Cops are hunting for the gunmen.

There was no suspect information at that time. In a separate incident Syracuse Police say a teenage was shot shortly before 10pm local time just blocks away from the mass shooting location. Syracuse Police are investigating. “This is very tragic event,” Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler said during a news conference. “This is something that cannot occur in our community.” Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh was also at the scene.
