A murder-suicide is investigated in Prices-Corner, Delaware

Horrific crime and suicide occurred in Prices Corner, Delaware. Forty-two-year-old Matthew Edwards, his wife 41-year-old Julie Burton Edwards, and their children, 6-year-old Jacob, 4-year-old Brinley, and 3-year-old Paxton, were found shot to death in the second floor of the home.

Police say Matthew Edwards died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They were found dead Monday night. A neighbor who wished to remain anonymous said the father of three had been emotional about work and marital issues. It was known the husband recently lost his job. Julie recently posted on Facebook that Jacob, who had Williams syndrome, celebrated a five year anniversary of successful open heart surgery. "They were happy kids, they were really happy kids," said a neighbor. "I don't know what happened inside. But I know he was outside with his kids a lot," another neighbor declared. Homicide units and the state forensic science team were on the scene investigating.

Parts of North Woodward Avenue, Ferris Road and Del. 141 into Del. 2 were closed Monday night due to police activity. No one has been able to say what happened. "There is no concern for safety in the surrounding area," police said. Police asks informations about this case to be transmitted to Detective D. Grassi of the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit at 302-365-8441.
