He was being watched by family friends and was in a bedroom when the accident occurred. “At the time that this occurred, there were two adults inside the home with the child. Neither of them are the child’s parents,” Fresno Police Department Lt. Rob Beck told media. It was unclear who owned the gun, whether it was the child’s parents or the adults watching the child at the time.
When officers arrived, they found the toddler still breathing with a gunshot to the head. After intense life-saving efforts, the child was pronounced dead. Nobody else was injured. Officials are trying to determine how the child was able to get his hands on a pistol. The Street Violence Bureau and Family Justice Bureau are investigating to determine what criminal charges may be made in this case.
