The shooting happened at the Meadow Apartments on South Avalon Street. Authorities believe Johnson was not targeted in the shooting. In fact, it was hit by a stray bullet while in his home. He was off-duty at the time and not involved in law enforcement activities when he was killed.  “It was an encounter between the suspects and another group outside of the apartment.” West Memphis Police Capt. Joe Baker told to media. Johnson was a father of two daughters. He and his fiancée were planning a birthday party for their youngest daughter. Arkansas Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin said he was “heartbroken” to hear about Johnson’s death. He was appreciated as passionate, genuine and caring about those in the community. A full investigation is underway. No arrests have been made at this time.
