Five people from Honduras were shot to death in the weekend at a property off Walter St. in the Trails End Subdivision west of Cleveland off SH 105, in Texas. The victims were all shot execution style at a home. They ranged in age from 8 to 40 years old. The 8-year-old boy died at a local hospital. Three other victims were injured and taken to the hospital “covered in blood,” according to the Sheriff’s office. Law enforcement personnel from San Jacinto and Montgomery counties responded to the shooting. They were killed after one of them asked a man to stop shooting his rifle outside because a baby was trying to sleep, authorities said. San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers identified the killer as a Mexican national. The suspect, Francisco Oropeza, 38, fled after crime. It was described as intoxicated.

Authorities found the murder weapon at the crime scene, an AR-15-style rifle, but also uncovered another rifle, shotgun, and pistol belonging to Oropeza at his home. Deputies had been to Oropeza’s home at least once before. “Every weekend you hear gunshots. People shoot in their backyards, after they drink alcohol, men take out guns at house parties and shoot the ground,” a resident declared. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Oropeza, and a judge assigned a $5 million bond. They said the man could be anywhere.
