Teacher arrested in Georgia after he shot by window from a handgun

No one was injured but a female student  hurt her ankle while rushing to evacuate Dalton High School. School officials quickly evacuated the school and placed it on lock down. The teacher was identified as Jesse Randall Davidson, 53, who also serves as play-by play announcer for the Dalton High School football team. He apparently fired the handgun out the window and did not aim at anyone.

“It certainly seems that he didn’t have any intention to harm anyone else,” police spokesman Bruce Frazier said. The school has about 2,000 students and  is located about 90 miles north of Atlanta. Police said no students were ever in danger. Almost ironically, the incident comes only weeks after President Trump and federal and state legislators have proposed arming teachers as a preventive measure to stop attacks in school, a move backed by the National Rifle Association.  According to police, students were taken to the Northwest Georgia Trade Center and parents asked to go there. Previously, Dalton City Schoolswere  ranked top three safest in Georgia.
