A 3-year-old girl in a Texas home in Houston shot and killed her 4-year-old sister on Sunday after she found a loaded gun. She fired a single shot. Five adults, who were all family members or family friends, were in other parts of the apartment. “It just seems like another tragic story of, again, a child gaining access to a firearm and hurting someone else and this time there was a fatal shot,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. “We continue to send the message that this is very preventable,” Gonzalez added.

He also urged people to make sure that their guns are stored where children cannot reach them.The Harris County District Attorney’s Office will decide whether any of the adults will face charges. The vast majority of the gun homicides and unintentional shooting incidents occur in the home.
