A shooting occurred at the Cielo Vista mall in El Paso, Texas, Wednesday. Multiple agencies responded to the shooting, including the FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Border Patrol, shortly after 5 p.m. local time. News video showed the parking lot filling with patrol cars. It was a chaotic scene inside the mall. One person is dead and three others injured. Two victims are in critical condition being treated at University Medical Center. The Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso said it’s treating a third victim who is listed in fair condition. All victims were males. An off-duty officer that was at the mall in the evening was able to get one suspect in custody in a very quick amount of time. Two suspects are now in custody but a motivation was not yet determined. A weapon was recovered at the scene.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott offered the “full support” of the state speaking to El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser, Wednesday. In the hours after the shooting police said they were working to clear the mall. Authorities have set up a reunification center at a nearby high school. The mall is situated near o Walmart where a shooting in 2019 killed 23 and left nearly two dozen more injured.
