A deadly mass shooting occurred at a ballroom dance club in Monterey Park, Los Angeles area, California, late Saturday, when people celebrated the Lunar New Year, event with unique gifts and specialty items, food booths with various types of delectable items, amusement rides, and lots of live entertainment. A carnival fun zone was also organized. Over 100,000 visitors per day from all over the Southern California area were estimated. At least 10 people were killed and multiple others were injured, ranging from stable to critical condition. The male shooter fled thw scene and is on the loose. No description was available.

A heavy police presence responded to the 120 block of West Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park. The Lunar festivaL at Monterey Park was canceled. It’s too early in the investigation to know if the gunman knew anyone at the ballroom or if whether it was a hate crime. But it was said the shooter appeared to fire indiscriminately with a long gun. Monterey Park is a city of about 60,000 people that sits at the eastern edge of Los Angeles. This was the fifth mass killing in the U.S. since the start of the year.
