A woman airport worker died in a tragic accident in New Orleans


Jermani Thompson, 26 ,a baggage handler at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport was killed when her hair got tangled in the machinery of a belt loader. She was unloading baggage from a Frontier Airlines flight. The victim was rushed to Ochsner Kenner Medical Center where she was later pronounced deadThompson worked for GAT Airline Ground support. GAT is a company that performs on-the-ground services for various airlines.She was a passionated basketball player, who had played as Hesston College in Kansas and Tougaloo College in Mississippi.


“We are heartbroken and are supporting her family and her friends as best as we are able,” said Mike Hough, CEO of Thompson’s employer, GAT Airline Ground Support. The airport’s director of aviation, Kevin Dolliole, stated that ‘we are deeply saddened about the tragic loss of GAT Airline Ground Support team member, Jermani Thompson’.A spokesperson from Frontier Airlines told that one flight was canceled Wednesday morning and other flights were operating on schedule.
