A ticket bought in Illinois won $1.28B jackpot at Mega Millions Lottery


The winning ticket for the $1.3 billion Mega Millions prize was sold at the Speedy Café Speedway gas station on East Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines, Illinois. The Speedway convenience store in Des Plaines will receive $500,000 for selling the winning ticket.It’s one of the biggest jackpot wins in Mega Millions history. Winning numbers were 13, 36, 45, 57, 67 and the gold Mega ball was 14. The Megaplier was 2X. The ticket holder has a year from the drawing to claim the prize. In Illinois, winners of more than $250,000 can ask the lottery to keep their name and hometown confidential.The cash option for this prize is an estimated $780.5 million. “Congratulations to the Illinois Lottery for selling the winning ticket for the $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot,” Ohio Lottery Director Pat McDonald said in a statement.


The last time someone hit the Mega Millions jackpot was April 15. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million. The game is played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. “We have not heard from the winner yet. We don’t know whether … they even know that they won a prize. So I encourage everybody to check your ticket,” Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mays told media on Saturday. Twenty-six tickets won a secondary prize of at least $1 million on Friday.
