Dog Commander replaced dog Major at the White House before Christmas

It’s over : “After consulting with dog trainers, animal behaviorists, and veterinarians, the First Family has decided … it would be safest for Major to live in a quieter environment with family friends,” media wrote. Major has been involved in several biting incidents since Biden took office in January. So Biden’s family decided to rehome the dog Major, a rescued German Shepherd adopted in 2018. But now Bidens welcome a new puppy, a purebred German shepherd named Commander into the family. It’s 4 months old and was a birthday gift from the president’s brother and sister-in-law. Commander arrived at the White House on Monday afternoon. President Biden shared Monday the news and some photos and video footage on his official Twitter account. In the video, the president calls to the puppy, pets it, throws a tennis ball for the pup to retrieve, walks it on a leash, and encourages the dog to sit to receive a treat. German Shepherds around the world are often the preferred breed for many types of work, including disability assistance, search-and-rescue, police and military roles and acting.

The Bidens’ oldest dog, Champ, died in June at the age of 13. Former President Trump and his wife Melania did not have any pets. The Bidens are dog lovers. They will also welcome soon another family member: a female cat will join the family in January. Jill Biden told that Major’s biting issues were part of the reason the cat has been delayed.
