Three people were brought to the hospital, including a woman “having a panic attack”. The boat was about 40 minutes into a planned 90-minute cruise. Residents who witnessed the incident pulled passengers from the water while waiting for emergency responders to arrive. The Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Fire and Rescue, EMS, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife DepartmenT responded. Some passengers reported observing rough and choppy water before the boat turned on its side. All passengers were accounted for after being removed from the water.

The parks department is investigating. “While weather is thought to be the cause of the capsizing, the exact cause has not been determined and the entire incident is under investigation,” Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough said. After the rescue, passengers were decontaminated to remove the diesel fuel before they were taken back to their cars. The boat involved in the incident is the Lake Conroe Queen, which was built in 1986 that has traveled to Indiana, Colorado and Louisiana for tours and private parties.
