Youtube 24-year-old pop singer was arrested for producing child pornography

Austin Jones of Bloomingdale, a 24-year-old pop singer who has a large teen following between his half a million YouTube subscribers has been arrested Monday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on two charges of producing child pornography. Federal prosecutors in the state of Illinois argued he's a risk to the community.

In May 2017 and August 2016, using Facebook and iMessage, he directed two girls how to perform sex acts and filming. Both victims expressed reservations about what they were doing, but Jones encouraged them to continue .It was proved that he asked his underage female fans to send him sexually explicit videos and images. He appeared in U.S. District Court in Chicago and confirmed he understand accusation.

On his tours, including in Europe, he does original music and also covers the work of Justin Bieber and other singers targeting the same teenager audience. He possibly faces a prison sentence between a minimum 15-year and a maximum of 30 years. He remains in a federal jail in Chicago. Jones has been releasing music since 2007. He also released an EP titled  We’ll Fall Together in 2014 and a full album titled Pitch Imperfect two years later. A petition on the site change.org was started online to kick him off the Vans Warped Tour in 2015. “On numerous accounts, he has pressured girls as young as 13 into sending him videos of them twerking,” the initiator said. The petition ended up with 9,096 supporters.
