The 10th largest lottery prize in U.S. history was won in California on a sole ticket

The 10th largest lottery prize in U.S. history are expected to be claimed in California. The winning Powerball ticket worth $447.8 million and matching all six numbers was sold in southern California. The lucky numbers drawn were 20-26-32-38-58, and the Powerball number was 3.

They were drawn Sunday night. If the winner will choose one payment in cash prize its value will be $279.1 million before taxes are deducted. (Instead, the winner could be paid yearly for 29 payments with the total value of $447.8 million). No one had matched all the numbers since April 1. The retailer where the winning ticket was sold will receive a $1 million as a bonus. In the lottery history, the largest prize was a $1.586 Billion Powerball jackpot has been won in California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016.

Beginning in October, 2015, Powerball became an larger combined large jackpot game and cash game. The game is offered by 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
