Supermarket shooting in Boulder, Colorado, leaves several dead including officer. A gunman opened fire Monday in a King Soopers supermarket and left ten people dead. The officer Eric Talley was between them. He tragically lost his life at the age of 51after serving more than ten years with the Boulder Police Department . People ran terrified in all directions. The shots sounded like they were coming from the east entrance of the store, near the self-checkout machines. Employees helped people out the back door. “It was a truly horrifying experience,”a customer declared to media. “I probably heard 30 shots. It was just pop, pop, pop, pop, pop!” another said.
A person of interest, who was injured during the incident, was taken into custody, officials said. Gov. Jared Polis and other elected leaders tweeted about the King Soopers shooting in Boulder on Monday afternoon. State Rep. Tom Sullivan shared his condolences for victims and their families and indignation for the events. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and other state dignitaries joined in the condolences. Police say there is no more threat to the public. Police didn’t reveal suspect’s name or any details about the shooting. Investigators had just begun sorting through evidence and witness interviews. The attack was the seventh mass killing this year in the U.S.
