Dozens injured by a truck at the Krewe of Endymion parade in New Orleans

The crash occurred around 6:45 p.m. local time. Victims of the horrific crash range in age from about 3 to 40 years old. Those injured, including a police officer, were taken to seven different area hospitals. Five were in critical condition. Seven other people declined treatment. The parade was paused for about 10 minutes when the crash occurred. The suspect driver was arrested. There was no evidence to suggest terrorism. The crash came less than five hours after a gunshot  accidentally wounded a man at the Krewe of Tucks parade, on the Uptown parade route. Endymion is a “super krewe,” one of the largest in New Orleans with 3,100 riders. It was founded in 1966 and named after Greek mythology. The parade is immediately followed with a party called the Endymion Extravaganza. Many people begin saving their viewing spots for this parade several days before the parade rolls.
