Los Angeles City Councilman Curren Price Jr., who represents Exposition Park, called the museum a “game-changer.” He even spoke about “a dream  [which] is now a reality.” Inside the Exposition Park in Los Angekes there are also several world-class museums, including the California Science Center, the California African American Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History.

Mayor Eric Garcetti said some have noted the museum might be “the largest civic gift in American history” by a single family for one building. Garcetti said the plan is to have the museum built by 2020, with some floating the idea of opening it on May 4th, a day that sounds like a popular line from the “Star Wars” movies. Chinese architect Ma Yansong was selected to design the futuristic five-story facility that will resemble a galactic starfighter. The site will include exhibit space, a cafe, theaters and a library.
