This weekend Georgia is under a state of emergency due to a winter storm that’s projected to dump between 4 to 6 inches of snow in some parts of the metro Atlanta area. Gov. Nathan Deal said: “I am issuing this executive order to implement protective measures to ensure the public health, preserve the safety of the public, keep property damage to a minimum and to minimize the social and economic impacts of this event on the citizens of Georgia.” A spokesperson for Stone Mountain told the media it is closing for the safety of its employees and guests, who they do not want traveling in hazardous conditions. If customers have already purchased tickets for a snow mountain session on Saturday, they receive money back. Snow mountain is open until February 26 and features a 400-foot tubing hill and acres of snow-play activities.
