The victims were taken to Brooklyn Hospital, Kings County Hospital and Methodist Hospital. Fortunately no one had life threatening injuries. The worst injury is believed to be a broken leg, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at a news conference this morning. The first two cars of the train derailed, and both sustained significant damage. The MTA said the derailment was causing traffic and transit delays and road closures near Atlantic and Flatbush Aves. The Long Island Rail Road carries about 300,000 customers each day. There will be an investigation to find out what happened and why the operator didn’t stop the train. It’s believed the train was traveling at a faster speed than usual right before the crash.
