American Airlines plane caught fire at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport Friday

Several ambulances and firefighters teams were on the scene, where massive plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the tarmac from terminal windows. The fire also damaged an engine. It was a major emergency response. American Airlines said the plane experienced an engine malfunction. The FAA has reported that a runway was closed at the airport. In fact, three runways were closed at the airport as of just before 3:30 p.m. and delays were expected, airport officials said. No injuries were immediately reported in the incident but later the Lutheran General Hospital said two patients were being looked at from the scene of the fire and a third patient was on the way. The number of injured increased after to none. The FAA was investigating Friday afternoon. One passenger declared he heard an explosion after the plane set off from the terminal.
