The crash of a commuter train in Hoboken produced dead and injured victims


It slammed into an exterior wall of the terminal building. The train was filled with commuters. People were trying to smash out windows after the crash. The roof of the terminal had collapsed The cause of the crash is unknown. More than 50,000 people use the terminal daily at Hoboken. More than 20 ambulances took the injured to the hospitals. Four patients had been transported from the station to Hoboken University Medical Center. Rail service was suspended in and out of Hoboken, directly across the river from New York City. The Federal Railroad Administration had investigators on their way immediately after accident. Hoboken is well-known for being the birthplace and hometown of singer Frank Sinatra as well as being the site of the first recorded game of baseball.
