NJ transit buses collision in Lincoln Tunnel produced dozens injured victims


The tunnel’s center tube remained closed until both buses could be removed from the tunnel. the driver of the first bus was issued three summonses for making an improper lane change, an unsafe lane change and careless driving. The accident has caused delays of nearly two hours on the New Jersey side. The Lincoln Tunnel is an approximately 1.5-mile-long (2.4 km) set of three tunnels under the Hudson River, connecting Weehawken, New Jersey and Midtown Manhattan, New York City, in the United States. The tunnel is part of New Jersey Route 495 on the western half of the river, and the unsigned New York State Route 495 on the eastern half of the river. The Lincoln Tunnel carries a daily average of approximately 108,000 motor vehicles.
