An explosion in New York: 29 people wounded

Some social media users said the sound of the explosion was heard as far away as Hoboken, New Jersey, across the Hudson River from Chelsea. Chelsea is packed with restaurants, subway stations, shops, businesses and art galleries and normally buzzing on a weekend night and is also known as a gay area. Police officers, firefighters and other first responders had rushed to the blast scene in Chelsea, which closed a major roadway, forced people out of nearby buildings and brought onlookers to the area.
