Police said it was unclear how the assailant was able to enter the venue with a weapon but it is suggested the assailant accompanied one of the artists through the building’s smaller side entrance on East 15th Street, which is used by most artists and crew. One man was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. Another was in critical condition. For the instant no one had been arrested. Police have recovered ballistic evidence and the crime scene search continued early Thursday. Many people panicked at the scene. Concertgoers talked about the chaos. “We just kept running with everybody else because they were running for their lives, so we just started running, and I fell, and I got stomped on a little bit. My shoe came off,” one of them said. New York Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
