Google is looking for prospective riders for its self driving cars

The head of operations for Google’s Self-Driving Car testing program explained the need for riders: “Test drivers play an important role in developing our self-driving technology… They give our engineers feedback about how our cars are driving and interacting with others on the road, and can take control of the vehicle if needed”. Brian Torcellini further detailed that the American multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products has “hired people from all types of backgrounds, from English teachers to orbital welders”.

People hired for the job will have to sign contracts for either 12 or 24 months. The requirements are that in the self driving car there are always two people. One of them will sit in the driver’s seat and will have to be ready at any time to drive the car if needed. The other will be in the passenger seat and his job will be to take notes of what happens on a laptop provided by Google.
