Dozens injured in a school bus accident in Texas

Most of those who were treated  suffered neck and back injuries. Fortunately none are believed to be life-threatening. Two people were air-lifted to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Two coaches and four students escaped unhurt. The school bus was not equipped with seat belts, despite a 2007 Texas law requiring them. “When I got here to the scene it was just like devastating. When you see all that and kids everywhere, said Vandie Smith, Chief of the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department. A preliminary crash investigation revealed the bus’ two right tires left the road causing the driver to overcorrect and swerve.
