All was destroyed at the scene. Rubble and glass littered the streets. Windows on surrounding buildings were shattered as smoke streamed from the rubble. Many businesses were terminated or damaged. Residents of an apartment building and another nearby residential structure were evacuated following the 1:45 a.m. blast, Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Corey Orvold said. The Fire Department said nearly 70 fire personnel were on the scene, including firefighters, commanders and medics. Dogs were used in rescue operations but no other victims were found. “We didn’t have anybody with burns, nothing life-threatening, nothing major”, Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said. The exact cause of the blast was not immediately known.
