After the unhappy customers issued their complaints, a state Department of Environmental Protection inspection revealed that a gas tank at the station contained 368 gallons of water. When confronted, BZ-Bee officials from the convenience store in Bowmanstown declared that most likely surface wanter from recent rains leaked into the gas tank in question. The gas station should have kept records of all their monthly verifications done for leaks on the piping system and on their gas tanks.
According to the DEP inspector that checked the gas station most of the required records were missing due to what gas station management calls “maintenance issues”. Colleen Connolly, a DEP spokeswoman, declared that the Pennsylvania BZ-Bee gas station will now face many fines. Furthermore they have been ordered to do the missing leak detection tests around their gas tanks.
