Threat with bomb received at Harvard University, four buildings were evacuated


Detectives and bomb squad specialists to assisted the investigation. The unconfirmed threat was received around 12:30 p.m. local time on Monday. Officials deemed Emerson and Sever Halls “safe” two hours after. No evidence of terrorist preparations were found. Harvard Law School has decided to continue with regularly scheduled activities, including the Ames Moot Court competition finals, “unless there are further developments that suggest plans should be changed.” A number of classes across within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences have been canceled for the day. Several other colleges and schools around Massachusetts also received unconfirmed bomb threats on Sunday and Monday morning. A such incident at Harvard occurred in the past, when a student was “motivated by a desire to avoid a final exam scheduled to be held” the day of the threat.
