Mapco gas station sells regular unleaded fuel at $3 per gallon.
The bank blocked out his debit card as soon as the transaction went through. Ray Crockett could not use his card for a while. The bank claimed it made the payment to the gas station for that huge amount and refused to cancel the purchase. When Crockett went to the gas station they claimed the bank didn’t pay them.
His weekly paycheck was of-course held to pay the bank the remaining outstanding amount. Eventually everything was resolved. An employee from the gas station made a typo which resulted in the man being billed ~$85000. The situation took a turn for the Best as Citi Bank gave back Crockett all his money and apologized for the situation.
