In 2012, the district’s School Health Advisory Committee had recommended Scott & White’s “Worth the Wait” Abstinence Plus curriculum if a sexual education policy was to be considered.. On the other part, if a such sexual education programs exists, the parents can opt out. Dallas County Health and Human Services records show that sexually transmitted diseases have spiked in recent years, which is a subject of concern. It was not very clear how the school with deal with chlamydia outbreak but the infection is curable and must be cured to prevent the inability for women to conceive. “We feel we need the parents to be aware of this growing problem and pass along some information regarding the sexually transmitted diseases”, the letter sent to parents said.
