Some bombing victims and families of victims were present in the courtroom. the jurors returned their verdict after two days of deliberation. The jury was composed of seven-woman and five-man. They will decide, most probably during the next week, with a possible death penalty. U.S. District Court Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. cannot overturn their choice but in the event they do not reach a unanimous decision he will automatically impose life without parole. None of the four defense witnesses suggested that Tsarnaev was innocent. On the other side, prosecutors described Tsarnaev as a true believer in the cause of radical, violent jihad. Tsarnaev is an ethnic Chechen Muslim who became a naturalized citizen of the United States just six months before he and Tamerlan detonated the bomb.
