Fourteen people were treated at local hospitals following the incident. Churchgoers were in the middle of a song at around 2 p.m. during a Spanish-language Mass when the accident occurred. At least a 30-square-foot section of plaster came raining down. A giant hole was formed in the ceiling. Fire and rescue crews raced to the scene. The church was evacuated and the area has been cordoned off with yellow tape. An investigation is ongoing. For the instant is unknown what caused the ceiling to collapse. The worshipers were members of the Manantial de Vida Pentecostal congregation, which rents the church.
