“The number of individuals with TB infection does not exceed what we would anticipate in this setting,” health department director Lougene Marsh said in the statement. Tuberculosis is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.TB bacteria can attack not only the lungs, as usual, butany part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. TB is spread through the air from one person to another but is not spread by kissing , shacking hands or sharing food or drink. ome people develop TB disease soon after becoming infected (within weeks) before their immune system can fight the TB bacteria. Other people may get sick years later when their immune system becomes weak for another reason. Those exposed to TB during the spring semester in this Kansas school will be tested again May 5.
