The girl scouts were a nearby target as they were selling cookies just outside the supermarket entrance.

According to the Pasadena Police Department, the Girl Scout leader noticed the money bill was fake a little later. Unfortunately it was too late as the thief who bought 3 boxes of cookies had long fled with the change. The community was outraged by what had happened as the money raised by the little girls were used to fund different charitable programs.

The thief was described as being around 130 pounds, 5 foot and 7 inches tall, and wearing a white sweatshirt jacket with blue jeans. He reportedly wore dark shoes with white laces. In order to get help with the ongoing investigation, Police distributed three surveillance images of the individual during a TV crime bulletin where they asked anyone having information which can lead to the arrest of the thief to call detectives at 626-403-7280.
