Victims were taken to a number of area hospitals, including Ventura County Medical Center, St. Johns Hospital-Oxnard, Los Robles Regional Medical Center, St. John’s Pleasant Valley-Camarillo, and Community Memorial Hospital-Ventura. Many of the victims were treated for head and extremity injuries. The primary investigation concluded an important fact: the conductor of the train anticipated crash from a far distance. He was braking the train when the impact occurred. The driver of the tractor trailer survived the crash and even fled the scene. Firefighters were treating victims. The National Transportation Safety board announced it was sending a team to investigate the crash. They are expected to be on the scene of accident for at least a week. All Ventura County line trains experienced Tuesday an extensive delay. Tracks remained closed between Oxnard and Camarillo and buses were en route to Oxnard following the incident, according to the company.
