Music performers participated in the televised fundraiser for cancer research

Several well known musical performers participated, including Grammy winners Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson, The Who, Ariana Grande and Dave Matthews Band. Actress and cancer survivor Sophia Vergara participated to the event by cell phone. “If you have ever taken care of someone with cancer, light it up and raise it high with me,” she said. Organizers said they hoped to top the $100 million mark for the first time this year. Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) is a charitable program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). SU2C was formally launched on May 27, 2008. Current members of the SU2C Council of Founders and Advisors (CFA) include Katie Couric, Sherry Lansing, Kathleen Lobb, Lisa Paulsen, Rusty Robertson, Sue Schwartz, Pamela Oas Williams, and Ellen Ziffren.

Between traditional donors on the log list of benefactors who sustain this program are: American Cancer Society, AOL, Bloomberg Philathropies, Major League Baseball, MasterCard, Philips, Siemens, Sidney Kimmel Foundation For Cancer Research and many others.
