I think it will be one of the fine hotels anywhere in the world, and maybe the finest”, he said and added later that the new hotel “will show how to get things done because we know how to build, we know how to create beautiful things, important things, and we know how to create jobs,”In the last years the building has housed small vendors mostly catering to tourists. The Old Post Office building was built in 1899, inspired by 11th and 12th century architecture. In 1971, the building was saved from demolition by a group of local citizens. Trumps daughter, Ivanka, is the lead developer on the actual project. The Trump Organization won the $200 million federal contract to renovate the building. The hotel will preserve and enhance the building’s historic features. It will have more than 270 hotel rooms, several world-class restaurants, an expansive spa, ballroom and meeting facilities, a library, a museum, and indoor and outdoor gardens. The Trump International Hotel will offer a total of 39,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 13,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom. As it is estimated, the redevelopment plan will infuse the Pennsylvania Avenue landmark with new life. The hotel opening is planned for 2016.
