Man sent back to 90 year in prison after initial court error released him

Lima-Marin was released almost 6 years ago back in 2008. Colorado authorities found out about the mistake and have now sent back Lima-Marin for 90 years in prison. This is not the first time a clerical mistake let a criminal evade prison time. Only this week a judge in Missouri set a convicted robber free when his sentance was set to 13 years.

Lima-Marin’s sentence added up to a total of 98 years from eight convictions. The sentences normally had to add up but a clerk wrote by mistake in Lima-Marin’s file that the sentences had to run at the same-time. Because the inmate serves the time mentioned in official documents he was released on parole in 2008 after serving just eight years.
