Circus music continued playing, but the main stage lights were cut to black . The eight performers hung “like a human chandelier” by their hair. Eleven patients — including one in critical condition — were admitted to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with varying degrees of injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said. Fortunately, they did not have life-threatening injuries, according to Roman Garcia, general manager of the Legends show. The performers suffered multiple broken bones, head injuries, and lacerations. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Police and officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating this. The viewers were shocked. Most of them were there with their kids. Two shows scheduled later on Sunday were canceled.“It was pretty overwhelming to see that,” a witness said to the media. However, some people initially thought it was part of the circus.
